Messiah Lutheran Church is a Bible-based liturgical confessional congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod that professes the unchanging truth of God and his Word.
As a member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Messiah Lutheran Church doctrine is based on the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther. These teachings are summarized in the Book of Concord: The Confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Resources for learning more about the faith doctrine of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Missouri Synod:
Members of the Missouri Synod believe that justification comes from God "by divine grace alone, through faith alone, on account of Christ alone." It teaches that Jesus is the focus of the entire Bible and that faith in him alone - his virgin birth, life, death on the cross, resurrection and ascension - is the way to eternal salvation.
We believe in the Bible as the divinely inspired Word of God, inerrant and infallible, and the only standard for the church in its precepts.
Baptism and Communion are sacraments administered by the church which, along with the Word of God, constitute the means of grace through which the Holy Spirit gives the free gift of God's grace. It is this grace that creates faith in the hearts of individuals, forgiving their sins for the sake of Christ's death on the cross, and grants believers eternal life and salvation.
