LCMS World Relief and Human Care’s Disaster Response is on the ground in North Carolina visiting LCMS congregations and their communities hit hard by floodwaters following Hurricane Florence.
On Tuesday, Sept. 18, a semitrailer of supplies purchased with dollars donated previously to LCMS Disaster Response arrived in Wake Forest. Those supplies have been distributed for use by volunteers and homeowners during the work of disaster recovery and restoration.
Generators, dehumidifiers, cleaning supplies, tools, diapers, baby wipes and formula filled the semi-truck provided by Orphan Grain Train, which arrived a day after it was packed in St. Louis.
Going, Caring, Sharing Jesus.
Prayer in the wake of Hurricane Michael
Lord of heaven and earth, You hold all things in Your hands. Once again, as a storm causes chaos and suffering for many, we humbly beseech You to have mercy. We pray with the Psalmist and all those in the storm’s path, “Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily! Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me!” Grant that all in Michael’s path may find earthly shelter, but most of all may trust in You, whose Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, is our one rescue, rock and strong fortress. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
We are working with local district presidents and district disaster response coordinators to evaluate the current situation in the Gulf and plan the LCMS response.
Please keep everyone in the hurricane path in your prayers and check back regularly for the latest updates
